Children’s Home Consultants

Helping to Achieve Outstanding Care

Andy Roberts operations manager

Why Work With Our Children’s Home Consultants?

At Changing Outcomes we believe that all looked after children deserve outstanding care, and we understand that keeping up to date with regulatory changes plays a huge role in keeping young people safe. As such, we help to ensure that our children’s home consultants keep appraised of developments within the children’s home sector and communicate them with our providers.

Our Reg 44 Visitor service has grown exponentially year after year and we feel that only hiring Reg 44 visitors who have managerial experience within a children’s home and a proven track record with Ofsted has been a key factor. We believe that because of this model, each of our Reg 44 visitors understands exactly what a successful and nurturing children’s home looks like.

Supporting You in Opening a Children’s Residential Home

As children’s home consultants who care about making a difference to all looked after children, helping clients open up new children’s homes in the right way, is very important to us. We have a small number of consultants who have specialised in this area for a number of years, which enables us to provide a clear and robust roadmap on how to get registered with Ofsted.

Our service includes an initial viability assessment, so you can make a fully informed decision as to whether or not opening up a children’s home is for you. We take the time to explain each and every facet of what Ofsted requires for successful registration, including comprehensive information about setting up a limited company, formulating a business plan, finding a suitable property and being granted planning permission, your statement of purpose, children’s guide, location risk assessment, and all key policies including your equalities policy, missing child policy, behaviour management policy (including the use of restraint), prevention of bullying policy, complaints policy, and safeguarding policy. You will also further your understanding about the importance of appointing experienced leaders, such as your Registered Manager and Responsible Individual, SC1 and SC2 forms, DBS’s, insurance, fit persons questionnaires, health declaration forms, and Ofsted registration fees. “From the outset, Andy took time to understand the organisation and build the relationship as a critical friend through regular dialogue. His support and service has been instrumental in helping Beaufort improve the quality of our service for young people through the regulation 44 independent visitors.
As we have grown, Changing Outcomes had grown with us. Providing an increased number of quality independent visitors. In addition to this, Andy and his team have also supported us in developing our supported housing provision by providing professional independent visitor reviews.”

“I use Changing Outcomes for my Reg 44 monitoring. I find they provide a professional service and
use personnel that are experienced in Residential care and in particular the OFSTED inspection
criteria. Every month I am given advice and suggestions to make my service better. The monitoring
format is clear and covers all the regulations relating to the Quality Standards. Each month Andrew Roberts picks a theme, and this is explored and discussed during the monitoring visit. Overall, I am very impressed with Changing Outcomes.”

“We spent a lot of time researching consultants in helping us set up our home. After many conversations with Andrew, we decided to go with Changing Outcomes. Even before any payment was made, Andrew was really helpful on the phone answering my questions. Andrew supported us in creating a business plan and financial forecast. He did extensive research in the area we wanted to open a home. He even had a meeting with children’s services in the area we wanted to open a home. Andrew sat with us and explained our business plan and financial forecast at great length. He is always a phone call away for advice and is very honest. With his guidance and support, we have been able to get funding to open our home.”

“Changing Outcomes has ensured that interviews occur within the required timescales and an in depth report is
completed highlighting what happened and suggesting possible methods of reducing / eliminating missing episodes.”
The report is centred around the voice of the child and in instances where the child is not willing to engage the
interviewer will try different methods before liaising with the adults working at the home to gain detailed information.”
